Maldives at MITT, Moscow

Maldives participates in Moscow International & Travel & Tourism Exhibition (MITT) which commenced yesterday, 18th March, in Moscow. Maldives Marketing & PR Corporation (MMPRC) along with 23 companies with more than 40 representatives from the Maldives tourism industry is showcasing their travel products in the travel show this year.

Deputy Managing Director of MMPRC, Mr. Mohamed Adam is leading the Maldives delegation. This is the 22nd edition of the show which began in 1994. Over the years the show has become the Russia’s most prestige travel and tourism tradeshow and one of the top five travel events in the world. This year there are 2,056 exhibitors from 198 participating countries and regions and expects a record breaking number of visitors to the exhibition. During the four days of the exhibition, the Maldives delegation will meet the travel industry professionals and discuss on potential future collaborations to promote the Maldives in Russia and Eastern Europe. Maldives also organizes a media event with the key lifestyle journalists which is scheduled to take place today. MITT is the major event that Maldives participates in the region to attract tourists and investors into the country. This year with a brand new design, spread to147 sqm, Maldives stand gives visitors a contemporary look while revealing the country’s unique tourism product. During the public days, 20th – 21st March, Maldivian music by a 4 piece band will be performing in the Maldives stand.

Maldives stand is located in the Forum Pavilion (no.F350), with destinations from Africa, Australasia, Asia, the Middle East and the Americas. Russia is one of the top generating markets to the Maldives, holding 5.5% of the market share. A total of 66,308 tourists were recorded from Russia last year. Although the numbers declined compared to the arrival data from year 2013, the Russian market is expected to bounce back once the economy recovers.
